On November 20, 2024, Korea University’s Media Hall Room 412 hosted a distinguished lecture as part of the Media and Communication Department’s 60th Anniversary Special Lecture Series.
The event commenced with opening remarks by Professor Min Young, Dean of the Media School and Graduate School of Media at Korea University. Following this, James E. Katz, Feld Professor of Emerging Media Studies at Boston University, delivered an insightful lecture titled “Future Research and Education in the Age of Emerging Media: AI’s Implications for Democratic Practices in Education.”
Professor Katz explored the transformative potential of AI in education and its implications for democratic practices, sparking meaningful discussions among attendees. His presentation offered a profound examination of how emerging media technologies reshape educational paradigms and influence democratic values in society.
The program concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where participants posed thoughtful questions, creating a platform for dynamic dialogue and knowledge exchange.
This lecture, co-hosted by Korea University’s Media and Communication Department, the BK21 Media Education Research Group, the Smart Media Service Research Center (SSRC), and the Center for Information and Society (CIS), marked a significant milestone in celebrating the department’s 60th anniversary.
